Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior representative said the vandalism left him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
